More than 800 images representing 139 wildlife refuges in 41 states were submitted and two territories were submitted into this year’s contest. Entrants highlighted the diverse, natural beauty found on our National Wildlife Refuge System–at nearly half a billion acres, it’s the world’s largest network of lands and waters dedicated to conserving fish and wildlife.
The collection of images highlighted birds, mammals, insects, fish, plants and landscapes. Featured here is the finalists gallery, which showcases 55 outstanding photos from our nation’s rich wildlife heritage.
