Privacy and Site Use Policy

National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA) is committed to preserving your privacy and safeguarding your information online. We do not sell, trade, or barter names, e-mail addresses, or other personal data that we collect on our website.

The following describes the general information-gathering and usage practices of our website.

IP Address Use:
As with most web sites, our server logs all traffic by the IP address of each user. This IP address information is used by our technical support staff for server administration and broad demographic reporting.

Cookies:
Our site uses a cookie to keep track of temporary information during your visit to our website. Cookies are identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide personalization features. The “help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable cookies altogether.

Personal Information:
When you join NWRA or make a donation to us through our website, we request your contact information (name, address, phone number, email address). We maintain this information in our database of supporters so that we can send you electronic and written materials that keep you informed about our work. Members also receive renewal reminders and requests for donations. If you do not want to receive these materials from us, you can call 202-292-2402 or email nwra@refugeassociation.org.

We are committed to providing safe, secure and private online transactions. Our servers use secure socket layer (SSL) protocol to encrypt credit card information. Look for the secure logo at the bottom or top of the browser page.

Refuge Action Network (RAN):
If you register to become a member of the Refuge Action Network, the information you enter is collected and stored appropriately and is used by us to provide RAN members with more effective and productive action network participation and to encourage RAN members to be NWRA donors. Your name and address will be included on any correspondence you send to decision-makers using the RAN system; this is essential to ensuring that your input be taken seriously by the targeted recipients. We do not sell or trade names or other personal data that we collect from you through your network usage. Every email you receive from us through the RAN system contains an unsubscribe link you can use to be removed from the email list.

Site Usage:
If you use this site, you agree to and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You are also responsible for restricting access to your computer and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account. If you are under 18 you may only access and use this site under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
