The lame-duck Trump Administration is expected to issue a “request for nominations” to purchase leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as soon as Monday. Even with oil prices at record lows and with the results of the recent Presidential election clear, this Administration is charging forward with plans to fast-track oil and gas development before they leave office in 68 days.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most pristine, untouched, and sacred areas in the National Wildlife Refuge System, with iconic wildlife from polar bears to nesting waterfowl to caribou herds. If lease sales take place prior to January 20th, they could be extremely difficult to reverse.

The National Wildlife Refuge Association and other groups fighting to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge are convening to implement plans to prevent this lease sale.
